Tammie CarpenterBoard Chair
Tammie Carpenter’s role as Director of the Housing Choice Voucher Program at the Chattanooga Housing Authority gives her a daily window on the great need for the ministry of Exodus. With a background in Accounting, she has worked in Housing for 16 years. Seeing the passion of Exodus’ founder Theresa Biggs to help the hurting has been a catalyst for Tammie to be involved with Exodus.
Sonja PhillipsBoard Treasurer
Sonja has served in many ministries and in her community over the years to include volunteering in elementary schools assisting teachers, mentoring underprivileged young girls, directing VBS, fundraising for booster clubs, organizing high school sporting events, reading to children and the 4-H Club Reality Store. In addition, she was a youth leader at a small church with limited resources. Among other things, she was tasked with raising money to fund activities for the group’s special events and organized local missions for the group. She also organized the Wednesday evening meals at church.
She currently serves as a Commercial Portfolio Manager at FirstBank located at Northshore. Prior to moving to Ringgold, she worked for Franklin Bank and Trust Company as an analyst and loan reviewer. She has a Bachelor’s in Financial Management from Western Kentucky University and has attended many continuing education classes since graduating. Sonja’s passion is helping to educate and mentor individuals to help better themselves so they can help others, and volunteering in her church and community.
Brad TuckerBoard Member
Brad is currently the Chief of Staff for the Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk’s Office. Prior to working in his current job, he spent approximately 25 years in law enforcement. In addition to his duties in the court system, Brad serves as the chaplain for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team. He is an ordained minister, and serves as a lay pastor at Abba’s House in Hixson, where he is also a member of the Pastor’s Council and a deacon. Brad is currently serving on the board of directors for YMCA/Y-CAP, and has previously served on the board of directors for the Chattanooga Boy’s Choir. He also sits on the Hamilton County Mental Health Court Committee and is a member of the Tennessee and East Tennessee State Court Clerk’s Associations. Brad is an advisor for Chattanooga College’s Criminal Justice program and has taught as an adjunct faculty member there and at ITT Technical College. Brad received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nashville School of Law. He and his wife Ruth have one daughter, Kayla, and reside in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee.
Julianne HudsonBoard Member
Involved in nonprofits for the past 15 years, Julianne has used her gifts of administration and hospitality to promote awareness of the need for continuing education and the effects of poverty and homelessness. Her passion to empower and move forward those needing guidance and answers has driven her involvement in education, homelessness and the arts of the Chattanooga community. "I feel that if a person is encouraged, guided, and challenged to complete their goals, they will prosper; and therefore our community will prosper as well. We are here to not only support someone in need, but to challenge them to be the best that they can be."
Beth ColemanBoard Member
Beth is the Assistant Director of Agency Operations and the Director of Finance for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga. She and her husband, Seth, are Alabama natives who moved to Chattanooga in 2017 when Seth became Pastor of Students at Abba’s House in Hixson. Beth and Seth have three children; Brianna, Rylee and Madison.
